The purpose of this thread is to track changes in APPro software for Atheros 531x-based devices.
The firmware is available in two versions:
* for devices with Wistron bootloader, like Appro5003, Ovislink WLA5000, or RDAA81
* for devices with RedBoot bootloader, like APPro5003v2 PCB, APPro Outdoor5, or Ubiquiti
Files with APPro firmware are named in following fashion:
appro5003v2-dd-mm-yyyy-revxxx-zzz.bin
where:
* dd-mm-yyyy - release date
* xxx - number of compilation
* zzz - bootloader version:
rdaa81 - firmware for APPro5003, RDAA81, Ovislink 5000, and compatible
ubnt - firmware for APPro5003v2 PCB, Outdoor5, Ubiquiti WISP Station, and Ubiquiti Lite Station
Mini-FAQ
What file should I use for my device?
To check the version of installed firmware, open Access Point Status page and look up Compilation line in System section.
* if the line contains 2.4.34-appro, use these files: appro5003v2-dd-mm-yyyy-revxxx-rdaa81.bin
* if the line contains 2.4.27-appro, install these files: appro5003v2-dd-mm-yyyy-revxxx-ubnt.bin
Does this firmware work on devices with (or without) HW module?
Currently available software supports devices with hardware modules, as well as with softlicenses
Are the upgrades free?
* upgrades within a standard feature set are free of charge.
* custom, client-specific upgrades are developed for a fee

How to upgrade APPro5000/5003 firmware to APPro5003v2?
Upgrade procedure will be available shortly.
Are different APPro firmware versions compatible?
* APPro5003v2 and APPro5000/5003 are not compatible and configuration files should not be transferred between these versions of APPro software.
* APPro5003v2 and APPro Outdoor5 software versions are based on the same code and are compatible.
* we give our best efforts to maintain backward compatibility (which means that when you install new firmware version, old configuration will be preserved), but this policy does not always apply to configuration files downloaded from devices. If you store device configuration files, we recommend re-downloading such files after each upgrade.
* we cannot guarantee configuration compatibility for downgrades - for more info please consult changelogs and release notes.
* user-modified scripts and direct edits to configuration files may cause problems after firmware upgrades. In such cases we recommend performing an upgrade in such way, that if the problems occur, the user should be able to reconfigure the device.
To upgrade via device's Web interface, use files with .bin extension only! Files with .tftp extension are intended for recovery purposes only, or first installation of the software. Remember to use only upgrade files that are compatible with your hardware
